5 Ways to Eliminate Stress to Live a More Joyful Life

Life is stressful, and there is no way to avoid it completely. However, some stress is healthy and vital for success, like stepping out of your comfort zone and taking a risk to start that new business or hobby you always wanted to learn. However, there is a side to stress that can be debilitating and crucial to relieve to continue to achieve those goals. Incorporate the following ways to eliminate stress and improve motivation.

Do Less

Being busy all the time does not equal success. It will only eventually lead to burnout and disappointment as you try to be an expert in everything. It’s simply unrealistic. The fewer things you need to do, the less you stress about, and, thankfully, the more you can focus on what makes your life look like your dream life.

Find ways to automate or streamline processes in your life. Visualize your future and compare it to the task you are doing now and how it benefits it. If you don’t see yourself doing your current job in the future, for example, and it doesn’t provide much value, why are you doing it now? Can you do something better? While everyone needs to pay the bills, that doesn’t mean a different organization or job won’t bring you less stress.

Sleep and Exercise More

While it can be repetitive to hear, diet, sleep, and exercise will always be the main sources of stress. In addition, a poor diet and exercise routine often correlates to decreased vitamin and nutrient levels that will significantly impact your hormones and overall health. Thus, resulting in increased symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Ditch Negativity

This includes both toxic people and negative self-talk. Even if ditching others includes family members, you must get them out or reduce them from your life.

The negativity will only manifest and transfer to others, making the problem worse. Your negative thoughts will only influence the wrong actions.

This is where developing strong boundaries not only with yourself but also with others becomes critically important for your mental health.

Practice Time Management and Organization Skills

If you constantly battle with stress, you need to look at your time management and organization skills. These two areas can often result in stress but are easily avoidable. If you wake up each morning at the last minute, procrastinate on important projects, or constantly search for missing items you aren’t taking the steps you need to effectively manage your time.

Focus On What You Can Control

Focus on your actions and the things you have control of. You will never control what others think or how they respond to you; however, you can control yourself. Practice letting go of the past and any anger or grudges you hold onto. As soon as you find yourself dwelling on what others are doing or their actions switch the focus.

Ask yourself the following question: “What can I do to make the situation better?” Don’t ask what anyone else can do but only what you can do. Then, craft a plan with actionable steps and notice how much you start getting done. When you control what you can control, you can lift the fog and continue.

You can control or reduce your stress when you take action and are more mindful. Use these simple ways to get started, and don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you need it.
