Learning to Forgive Yourself through Self-Compassion

✋It can be soo difficult to have compassion for ourselves when we mess up.

It’s easy to show compassion to others when it’s a loved one or a child who perhaps made a mistake and didn’t know any better. Or maybe you know their intentions were sincere despite the effects.

🤔But why is it so difficult for us to show compassion to ourselves? Perhaps it’s because we are taught to take responsibility for our actions. Or maybe it’s because we were never taught how to show compassion to ourselves.

This was never a lesson that I directly learned, but something I was always told by others. Who says we can’t take responsibility for our actions AND have self-compassion.

⚖️ AND who says it has to be others to give us compassion?

👀What if there are no others…and it’s only you. Do you just walk around in misery and guilt forever until something external can redeem you?

💔Hopefully, not.

⭐So here’s your opportunity to take 5 minutes to start building a self-compassion practice. In this guided meditation, we’ll invite in the imagery of what has us feeling down. This might not be meeting your goal, saying the wrong thing, or anything that makes you feel bad about yourself.

💫Allow yourself to experience what this hurt feels like in your body.

Express kindness to yourself for the mistake you made. Know that you are not the first nor the last person to make this mistake. We’ll also use some affirmations to help fuel this self-compassion practice.
