Are you a new year’s resolution or goals kind of person?
Or do you set intentions or themes to how you wish to live your life?
Perhaps you use a combination of both?
I’ve set New Year’s goals in the past, but I seldom think about them, let alone keep them. That’s why, for the past several years, I’ve tried to focus on choosing a word of the year or a key topic to help direct my experiences and how I CHOOSE to spend my time.
A few examples from the past couple of years.
📍 2020 – the word of the year was balance. Then this year is when I first went to a yoga class and began my studies to become a certified yoga instructor.
📍 2021 – The word of the year was exploratory. This is the year I registered as a 200 hr yoga teacher. Therefore, to expand my personal practice and knowledge, I also completed a meditation teacher training. Finally, this was the year I quit my full-time job to focus on my business and myself.
I loved the flexibility behind creating just one word to focus on and then applying it to the different parts of my life that feel authentic.
This year’s word for me is Presence. I’ve always been one to look forward to the future and sometimes forget what I have right in front of me. I was always ready for the next best thing, next promotion, next adventure etc.
However, something I realized over the last year, especially as I was just starting to figure out the running a business thing (still figuring that out) is how important it is to also enjoy being present.
Enjoy the moment right NOW!
It’s okay to not rush and it’s okay to have different goals as others. That is why I really want to prioritize being present.
🔥Being present with my feelings.
🔥Being present in my relationships.
🔥Being present in my work.
🔥Being present in life.
👉Anyways, the focus of this meditation is to help give you clarity on what you want to prioritize this year. If you’ve already set your intention for the year, try this practice to deepen it and if you haven’t set one, use this practice to explore creating one.
You may be surprised how valuable this short meditation is in centering your focus for your personal and professional goals.
🤿 P.S. I’m writing my 2021 reflection where I take a deep dive of the last year and share some powerful reflections that I’m bringing with me into the new year.
